Where to place your google adsense ads for the best ctr
Where to place your google adsense ads for the best ctr
Basically, you place Google AdWords ads or adverts on your website then if the ad gets clicked on by one of your visitors, you receive money, so why do you get money? well advertisers pay google to show their ads on your website so you are basically getting a share of what they have paid Google.
You can get a google account for free just by signing up here:
https://www.google.com/adsense/ and select click here to apply.
You will then be able to choose which types of ads you wish to display on your website and Google will provide you with some html code to cut and paste onto your website page.
Google will then use its advanced algorithms to decide which type of relevant ads and content to dsiplay on your website's pages. The code you pasted onto your pages will then display the ads google has decided match or are relevant to your website content. Please note that sometimes public service ads may display, and you do not get paid if someone clicks on these.
So to sum up, if you have a website about ebooks, your ads will not be about pets, or swimming, they will be about ebooks or related ebook topics. The content of the ads should be relevant to your website content and exactly the type of information your visitors are looking for.
So which types of ads are best to place on your website.
Adsense for content
Adsense for Search
Adsense Referrals
Adsense for content, is the ads I previously mentioned.
Adsense for search is a search box you place on your website
And Adsense Referrals is referring people to use googles products and services.
Take a look at this website to see a suprising picture of how people are more than likely to view your website, you may be surprised! Its gives you a little insight into the eye path of a visitor.
http://www.poynterextra.org/eyetrack2004/main.htm
According to Google, the following ad formats result in the highest number of click-throughs or CTRs:
336×280, 300×250, 160×600
The best resource for google ads is on their own help pages, see this one for placing your ads
and the hottest sections picture helps alot too:
https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=17954
Try to blend your ads in with the same colour scheme as your website, try to make them not look like ads, and certainly dont put titles over them such as ADVERTISEMENTS or such like, google already displays "ads by gooooooogle" anyway.
If you send out a newsletter or ezine, then you could easily drive those members to your website and earn more from your adsense ads, just link to a specific product, question or article and this will ultimately take them to the relevant page that is also displaying your ads.
Many Gurus will tell you the best positions for your ads that will gain the highest ctr, click through rate, but test ads out yourself, try placing ads on different parts of your site, use different sizes, different colours, trial and error is really the only way you will find out which is the best type of ad and ad position on your website.
One general rule is that the most profitable ads are placed beside, above or below the main content of your website so bear this in mind. And remember that when most people finish reading a sentence their eyes will return to the left position!
So now you can make the most of this earning potential from google, use the maximum amount ads google allows, at my last check it was Four Box ads and 3 Text Ads, but check with google to be sure.
Go get those ads up, running and profiting for YOU !

12 ways to ensure repeat traffic to your website
12 ways to get repeat traffic to your website
1. Remember to try and update your website pages as frequently as you can. Websites without updating content can easily be dropped by online search engines. Its an idea to a dated counter so that the webpage will display the date of when your website was last updated with fresh new information.
2. Make it simple and easy for customers to sign up or opt in to your newsletters. Offer a free product if they sign up, or give them a discount to any future promises, but make it enticing enough for them to want to sign up.
3. Make sure you have traffic building links on your main webpage, such as "Add to your favourites" or "Make this site you homepage". A quick search on any of the main search engines and you will find lots of free scripts that you can use for the above purpose.
4. If you are seeking affiliates give them an incentive for becoming one of your partners, such as a link to your sight, or a free ad for one their products in your newsletter or ezine. Perhaps even offer them a discount of all products on your website. Be careful not to advertise anything that is in direct competition with your own products.
5. Make it easy for visitors to recommend your website to other people who may be interested in its contents. A simple script will allow you to add a link so that they can enter their friend's email and an email will automatically be sent, with your own inserted message, with a click of a button.
6. Make sure are your website pages are consistent and people know they are on your website, no ones wants to click on an item and then suddenly think they have been taken to another site altogether. Have your website logo clearly displayed at all times, in fact, try to use the same header at the top of every page of your website. Make your memorable, use your logo and keywords to their full effect. Ensure that your website will be remember in case the customer wants to visit again but has not add your website to their favourites.
7. Create separate pages for "contact us" "help" "delivery" etc etc this will show that run a professional service and that you can be contacted easily if need be. This will ensure your customer will trust you and ultimately order a product from you.
8. Create a Frequently Asked Questions Page which will answer the most questions you get asked, each time you are asked a question by a customer make sure you add it to the FAQ page. Then without even having to contact you the customer will be able to see most answers to their questions immediately.
9. Once a customer has gave you their email address never send them unwanted emails, if possible ask them when they sign up if they would like to receive your newsletters. Use a double opt in when possible, which means after they initially submit their email, they have to click another link to officially sign up. Dont ever sell, or give away a customer's email address, unless they specifically agreed to receive emails from other 3rd parties. Always provide the option of unsubscribing in any emails you send, and ensure they are unsubscribed if requested.
10. Pop ups, are usually considered to be annoying by many people, however a pop up / pop under / float in ad etc etc are only annoying when the information contained in them is not relevant. If you have a free report / ebook / ecourse to give away using a pop up can be very successful, especially if you have it activated for when the customer is leaving your website.
11. If you are registered with any companies that prove you are a safe online business make sure you display their logo, this will show you are a reliable company, which so many cases of online fraud, many people are still unsure about using credit cards etc online, so show them your site is trusted.
12. Add a telephone number to your website, this shows that you are a real person / business and not some fly by night company on the internet. You can easy get free business telephone numbers that divert to your own home number if you wish. This gives the customer the knowledge that if they do encounter a problem on your website, that you are only a mere phone call away.
You may find the following useful for implementing the above 12 points.

Cross Promoting your items on eBay Online Auctions
Cross Promoting your items on eBay
When you sell on ebay, you make a sale, and the buyer is also shown
some of your other items for sale.
Great, free advertising and prmotion for your other items.
Ok, so your other items get more views, so how about 10 other people selling items, related to yours, ebooks for example, and then also promoting your items.
Yes, thats right, you can have 10 people promoting your own items too.
So how exactly does eBay cross promoting work?
Well, basically, you set up a maximum of 10 cross promotion connections with eBay sellers who sell similar items to yourself.
You choose the other ten sellers, send them an invite, they accept, eBay sorts out all the cross promotion details, for free and thats it, simple isnt it.
Now each time any one of those 10 sellers, sells an item on eBay they will promote your items too!
You have to find sellers of similar items, why? because they are already getting people buying the same product so its more than likely that their buyer will be interested in the items you are offering too.
Choose 10 sellers, whi are selling well, look at their ebay feedback to make sure they are reliable sellers, and to check out their monthly feedback scores, so you can see how many sales they are making and ultimately how many times they can be cross promoting YOUR items.
To set up the cross promtions, simply send them a message through eBay along these lines:
"Hello, I noticed that you seller similar items to me, would you like to cross promote items with me, eBay sets it all up for free, when we each sell an item we will promote both our items, and generate more sales and profits for each other"
You dont have to use those exact words, but make sure you mention, more sales and profit, this will ensure that people want to accept your offer.
I have written a short eBay guide about cross promoting oif you would like to view it.
cross promotion ebay guide
So now you have an option of having 10 people promoting your other items, kinda like a mini eBay affiliate program except you dont pay them !
So go get your 10 cross promoters and watch your sales increase !

My Latest form of advertising :)

My latest form of advertising
I always think any kind of advertising is great advertising.
But I dont always like to limit myself to online advertising.
There are many offline ways of advertising too.
For instance you can find lots of unusual ways of advertising offline on
eBay.
Above you will see my latest purchase from eBay, its from the Team Bad Boys,
aka scallyrally uk, visit scally rally uk site my ad is only small at the bottom of the drivers door, but it will be seen.
They are travelling through France, Switzerland, Italy and Spain all in the name of charity, for Breast Cancer.
A totally worth while cause and some nice worldwide advertising for me too.
So go take a look on eBay and see the wonderful, unusual advertising you can find.
Remember you can put up adverts in shop windows, get some business cards and post them through peoples doors, print you web url on t-shirts and give them away, dont only advertise online, advertise offline too!
Sally :)
